So I saw Taken 2 today...

Yeah. It's barely over an hour long.

Has some decent action and Liam Neeson kills about 20 dudes.

Plot is pretty open and shut, and resolves pretty poorly.

It's competent, but I'd recommend the first one over this every time.

From what I've heard, they missed the element that put Taken above your average actipn movie: gritty paternal revenge. If sappy romance is the key to women's hearts, gritty revenge is the combination to men's.

Haven't seen the sequel, but the first Taken wasn't exactly a masterpiece either. Revenge is nice, but overall it was pretty shallow. Girl is kidnapped, drugged, moved through an Eastern European sex-slavery ring, likely raped many, many times, witnesses or at least closely experiences the death of a very close friend and the murder of various men... upon landing back in the states, only concern is dance lessons with a pop-idol.

I believe it's implied she wasn't raped, as Liam found her in under 72 hours before she was trafficked to have sex.

And there is a suspended gap between the leaving and when we see them again. Though to be fair in Taken 2, with the trauma of his wife being kidnapped and nearly killed, his daughter barley avoiding capture and putting herself into tense situations, only 3 weeks later she's taking a driving test and the family sits down to have ice cream sundaes.

They sold her as a Virgin.
