Re: Resident Evil Retribution
There is a Resident Evil 6(game) coming out.
Follows three different characters/stories and it seems that Leons part is more original RE style while Chris's is balls to the wall kill fucking everything RE5 style.

Re: Resident Evil Retribution
Also at this point I think Alice just needs to remind herself who she is cause every single RE movie has to have her telling herself what her name is.

Well she did have Amnesia....4 movies ago. Could be a possible side effect.

I think we missed that opportunity in Afterlife. Given how much they copied from RE5 in that film, I was quite surprised it didn't make it in honestly.

Will someone kindly explain to me why the intro to Tron Legacy was playing in the trailer?

Because ripping off better movies is what the Resident Evil films do, as well as the games.

Re: Resident Evil Retribution
Ok, so the music starts in the trailer at 0:44.
It's "Recognizer", song #4 from the Tron Legacy OST
Hmm... wondering how they got the license... Daft Punk is a little too classy to license out to these guys.

Re: Resident Evil Retribution
Not to classy for a few million dollars for one song that will only play in the background of a single trailer for a few months.

Not the first or the last time they license a song that nothing to do with the actual film.
Remember the Adjustment Bureau? The trailers for that was the music from the inception trailer just at a slightly different speed and pitch.

Re: Resident Evil Retribution
So I watched this yesterday, as it's becoming a tradition that we watch these terrible movies.
Anyway, this movie feels like even the producers and writers of this series have collectively given up. It's probably the most video gamey out of any of the films. With sweeping CGI shots of the underwater Umbrella testing facility the whole takes place in, similar to those shots used with the Hive in the first film.
Also this facility is basically a virus outbreak testing simulator. They have multiple domes recreating major Cities (New York, Suburban America, Tokyo, Moscow which has ARMED SOVIET ZOMBIES) and they put people in there, add zombies and see what happens.
Oh and want to know why Michelle Rodriquez is in this movie? Clones. Yep they used that excuse again, and they populate these chambers with clones of the same 50 odd people, which includes the entire team from the first film, that dude who was in 2 and 3, and of course MORE BLOODY ALICE CLONES.
Speaking of clones, there's this weird sub-plot where a Clone of Alice has been programmed to be a suburban house wife and has a deaf daughter which we see right after the opening credits. They then just blatantly rip off the opening of the remake of Dawn of the Dead and the sequence essentially ends with the Alice clone dying.
Later on, the Real Alice finds this deaf clone daughter and for some reason feels that she need to protect her and be her new mom. I'd like to think she has a massive amount of guilt given she got all those Alice clones killed last movie so she feels this makes up for it.
Jill Valentine, features pretty prominently through the film, being the main antagonist, and we get more characters who bare almost no relation to their in-game equivalents (Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong and Barry Burton for some reason.) oh and that black dude who we thought died in the last movie. The AI from the first movie is back, but it bares virtually no resemblance to it's previous incarnation and just spawns biohazards to kill Alice.
Wesker is also back, with no explanation how he survived, just he decided
''Hey I've decided I need the person who blew my brains out with her money shotgun, for the Wesker Initative so let's get her out of this Umbrella place.'' But more on that later.
Anyway if it feels like I'm glossing over a lot, I'm really not, the film is a very bare bones story, more than ever before and just moves from one set piece to another, much like a video game, with loading scene briefings with a 3D CGI map of the place and what their objectives are.
Oh and this movie features a lot of re-using sets, props and ideas from the previous movies. Anybody remember the beginning title sequence to the last film? No? We it's in there again, only this time it's a simulation and Alice is there.
Remember that big monster from the previous movie with the giant axe? This time there's two of them!
Remember the big licker thing at the end of the first movie? Yep he's there.
Needless to say they get out, they have a climatic fight between Jill and Alice and a Rodriquez clone infected by las plagas (Which for some reason seem to let her be immune to bullets, despite every other las plagas zombie going down in 3 seconds after being shot) and let's her perform Mortal Kombat X-Ray moves. Jill gets the spider thing removed and then is on their side, the Rodriquez clone dies and now we come to the hilarious finale.
They get extracted and go to the White House where Wesker has set himself up (I'd vote for Wesker for the upcoming election) and he just straight up, no joke; GIVES ALICE BACK HER SUPERPOWERS. He explains that he needs to old Alice to help him, as Humanity is facing extinction, and this humanities final stand, which leads to the tease of the the White house surrounded by millions of infected creatures on all sides; land of the dead style.
The final shot of all 5 of them just reminds me so much of the Avengers it's not even funny.
So yeah, pretty much the filler movie, to what possibly could be the last movie. Still never explained the desert thing though.

IN LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES WE'LL REACH THE OPTIMAL ALTITUDE FOR MISSILE DEPLOYMENT. GEORGE BUSH WILL BE RELEASED INTO THE ATMOSPHERE ENSURING COMPLETE GLOBAL PENETRATION.
Seriously though, every time he talks in the movies he sounds like Agent Smith.

If you like seeing her die multiple times in the same movie, I'd guess you'd be happy.
