Pandemic Studios went Byebye
Yah, Pandemic closed. They really only had one game that ever interested me.... but it's my favorite game to this date: Battlezone II (oh, and Star Wars: Battlefront... but Battlezone was better =P). One of the guys that is still a very active member of the BZ community and is constantly working on hard coding to keep the game running was a worker for Pandemic. Luckily, he moved out a few days before they closed and found himself a new job at some company that he refuses to revile.
It seems that Pandemic will finish their current game, The Saboteur, but that's the end of the line. The game looks nice... but not particularly impressive. Oh well, the company stopped supporting Battlezone II many moons ago. However, Gamespy just shut down Planet Battlezone because of recent events, which kinda sucks.
Any comments?

Always sad to see a good game studio go under.
I rather enjoyed Destroy all Humans and SW: Battlefront. I always thought their new game The Saboteur looked interesting.
You will be missed Pandemic. I liked their company's logo.

Re: Pandemic Studios went Byebye
The only game I ever played from Pandemic was StarWarsBattleFront2.
It was good, but it was just a Star Wars version of Battlefield, and didn't involve much innovation, creativity or vision on Pandemic's part. It was as much DICE's creation as it was Pandemic's.
Oh well, I'm not happy that they had to close down, but it isn't a hard blow to the gaming community. StarWarsBattleFront was a good series, and I would like to see it become a trilogy, but TBH Pandemic is an expendable company.

I can't even begin to account for the hours that I spent playing the original Mercenaries.

Just another of the many reasons why I hate EA.
You make a few flops this year, mainly because EA were constantly pushing them to met unfair deadlines, so it was buggy and unfinished.
So EA, the main reason why they tanked, has the balls to close the studio because of them being complete assholes to Pandemic.
Goodbye Pandemic, I shall miss you.

Same here, blowing shit up as the black guy was some of the most fun I've ever had.
Not to mention that's the game I was playing when I'd heard that Irwin died.

Ah, mercenaries...
'Twas the game I was playing the very hour George W. Bush got sworn in for a second term.
We partied all night and all day.

Bush got elected, so you went and celebrated by blowing shit up...
How appropriate!

Did anyone enjoy Destroy All Humans as much as I did? That game was fun-on-a-bun.
Never played the 2nd one but the first is just mindless, earth destroying fun.

I did, it had that 1950's B-movie feel and really made me chuckle as I played through it.
Never played the sequels though.
