Starcraft's Map Editor Empty Starcraft's Map Editor

Call me stupid but how the hell do I play a map that I've made? All I'm trying to do is make a simple 3vs1 survival map, nothing super serious/spectacular or anything. I have starting locations for all 4 players but I cant find the map on Brood War. I haven't downloaded any patches for the game (nor do I know where to download them) for the record.

Also I've heard that I need an "AI Script" but I don't know where the option is to add one, or how to add one for that matter, AND I need to know how to add a time limit to the map.

Help please.

Thanks in advance.

Alright, first off you have to download the patches, you can do this through the game, you go to multiplayer and make an account, it will ask you if you want to download the patches, of course click yes Very Happy

now your map will be under ladder I think, or it might have a folder for person made maps which I know it does. You select the map and you're good to go.

Also did you put any triggers on the map to designate where the attackers (if they're bots) on where to attack because I've found that without those wonderful little triggers all of their units get stuck at choke points and sit there the whole game, also make sure ur choke points are large and not small otherwise everything will get stuck in there. Best of luck.

I don't know how to add those kind of triggers but I think those things you mentioned might be AI Scripts?

Triggers are indeed AI scripts, you dont need them but they can add twists into a game instead of it just being the enemy spamming units at you. They are all in the map editor, but the system for using them is very very complicated.

I haven't tried to play any multiplayer games, I have however, completed all nine campaigns and played several custom games.

And it says I have Version 1.15.2

Also I still can't find my map. I've looked through every map, in every possible section/folder in both the original Starcraft and Brood War and still nothing.

Do I have to make an account on Battle.net in order to play my own maps or what?

no, try saving your map under another name in a different folder, as of the latest version im not up to date on that so cant really help ya on whether or not you have the latest one. Just try saving it under a different name and in a different section of skirmish games. Thats about all you can do. Then of course finding it. lol

Look it up on the internet for a guide on using the map editor. I've had the game for 6 years and still never got the hang of it.

you dont even have to look up how to use it for 2 reasons, 1 if you have the guide it will tell you how to use it, 2 if you fiddle around with it for like 30 mins you'll get it on your own.

What. The. Fuck!? Ok I found out how to add AI scripts and a time limit, I tweaked it as necessary, saved it and it said that is was compatible with Brood War, and it was saved as an "scm" (which I'm guessing means "star craft map"), I read the "help" section and it said that I needed to save it as a map. So I did and it said that all I needed to do was select "play custom" in the campaign menu thing and find the map.

So I went and did just that and.........*grits teeth*Its...not...there. I searched every section again and still couldn't find it.

Where can I find this "guide" thing because this is getting just a wee bit irritating...

Sad

Thanks but I figured it out on my own. I saved the map to the CORRECT Starcraft map folder this time, I got the AI to build up and attack, I also got the time limit to work.

The most obvious fucking solution and I managed to miss it....
