It was the TED conference, which is like the E3 of the tech community. not fake.
I don't think he means the presentation, but the demo video. Some of it probably was enhanced or fake. It's difficult to film a projected image clearly, so it probably was edited for clarity.

Sad... so little imagination...ReconToaster wrote:Civ wrote:The wristband idea is kind of stupid.
That's just the interface. It would be very difficult to program an interface that interacts with your brain. We're no capable of that just yet.

You're focusing too much on how silly she looks with the device on, and maybe that you don't like the interface. Instead, focus on the technology behind it.
A camera that is attached to you takes an image of something you are holding. It finds what product that image came from in its database and can give you information like:
Where to get a better deal on that product
How ecologically friendly the product is
In the case of media or hardware, it could give you the amazon rating of the product. For parents looking at games for their kids, it could give them an extended ESRB rating, or it could show them an article from 'whattheyplay.com' that talks about whether or not the game is suitable for children.
Now imagine if this same technology and infrastructure was put into use in a different way. What if instead of using a webcam, the device received images the same way that your brain does. It could take advantage of your eyesight.
What if all you had to wear was a small necklace that projected images onto surfaces?
What if there was no projector at all, and the image was fed directly to your brain?
You guys aren't seeing the POTENTIAL of this technology. You're dismissing it because she looks silly, and you don't want to wear green fingertips.
Imagine RFID chips embedded in everything. Everything.
You touch an object, and a contact lens beams info into your eye.
Second generation would HAVE to upload the info directly to your brain. It won't read it to you, you'd know the info like it was already there.
Or we could put all of this onto the iPhone, along with the retinal scanner, DTV antenna, medical scanner, Taser, and credit card.
No, considering the fact that it will already be there.ReconToaster wrote:KristallNacht wrote:still more unwieldy than the Surface concept products. and less clean

Recon, know how I found out about it? (and subsequently showed qwerty)
Someone sent me the link with the tagline - 'Dude, they stole your idea.' (BCs from my book)
Even the conference thing
I mean obviously they didn't steal it; but funny it should happen now.
