Nathan felt as his bed shuddered under him, his room shaking all around him. He hid his small face beneath the covers, willing away the rumbling and screaming he heard.In the drakness of his covers he heard his own door slam open and Nathan screamed.
He looked above the covers to see his older brother Zach, a rifle flung over his shoulder and eyes dulled from adrenaline.
"Nathan!"his eyes darted around the room till they focused on Nathan.
"Lets Go!"Zach grabbed ahold of Nathan's arm and pulled him from his bed, half carrying and half dragging him out the front door and onto the street outside their home.Zach got a better hold of Nathan and looked about himself.The sky was dark and red, the world all around them burning in hellfire.Nathan and Zach heard them before they were there.The sceams.The horrific and blood chilling screeches from Hell itself.Zach began to run from the smoke and death, Nathan securely in his arms.Nathan felt numb as he looked at the world he once knew so well. The playground he had played on yesterday was a heap of scrap.Billy's home was but a crater with kindling strown throughout the area as a final mark.Zach's breath was hoarse as he continued to run, the screams from behind him driving him forward,onward.A new sound began to dawn on the two brothers ears.A humming.Pelicans sat on the ground fifty yards away, marines pileing in frantically.Zach screamed hoarsely.
"Stop!"Nathan fell from Zach's arms and slammed into thje pavement, his lungs emptied and aching.Zach screamed as he felt them burrow into his neck, the cold slicing and the sickening squirming and probing of its arms.The marines looked at the scene and fired into the mass that held both friend and foe.Nathan layed on the ground in shock as he watched his brother explodes into bits as bullets ripped through him.He felt as a something grabbed him from behind and dragged him to the Pelicans.In moments he was sitting in the Pelican, surrounded by people he never knew in all of his few years of life.
"Nathan."He said as a tear slid down his cheek.A marine wiped the tear from his cheeck and revealed her feminality by speaking."We're your brothers and sisters now."Nathan wailed as the Pelican flew away from the devestation,from the death, from the Flood.

end of prolouge

chapter 1
11 years later.....

Nathan was later drafted into the S-IV Program. He survived......

there were screams. Nathans eardrums had popped from the nearby exploding spike grenades, He quickly unloaded 4 clips of his BR into the nearby agressive brute pack. spiker rounds where tearing through the forest they had taken cover in, bark and large branches being torn apart from the brutes's new and improved spikers. 3 marines were hit, their faces blank, eyes open, they appeared as if in a far away sleep. Nathan quickly tore his eyes away from his dead comrades and sprinted up the hill they were suposed to capture in order to be extracted. Nathan stopped and scanned the mangled bodies that were once the brutes. Nathan then lowered his gun satisfied with his kills. "Nathan you arent done yet, you still have to take out a near by Brute AA gun, we will be sending you back up" command informed. Nathan held his position on the blood stained hill overseeing what had happened in the past hours. They were originally ordered to take this hill and hold it for troop deployment/supply drops.ect but the battle had raged on and other squads failed their missions and unfortunately Nathan had to carry out these missions...... in moments a Warthog pulled up reavealing his back up. But his back up was only one person. one Spartan. one Vtrooper...... "hello my old freind, you ready to show these brutes what we can really do?" Vtrooper calmly stated


chapter 2

Nathan nodded to V in a form of a silent greeting."well you coming or are you just going to sit there all day?" V said. Nathan then got into the wart hog and started scanning the treeline for any ambushes. the silence of the two spartans was astounding for the only sound that came from the wart hog was the low hum of the engine. 1 hour of traveling and V suddenly stopped the hog "we are here" Nathan stated. V pulled a Sniper Rifle off of his back and said "I will give you cover, just worry about planting the explosives on the AA gun", Nathan advanced silently and undetected and observed his enemies from the saftey of a near by crater. There was 8 brutes and one brute cheiften. "this isnt going to be easy Nate" V said. "is it ever?" Nathan replied. Nate tossed a grenade which landed under one brute blowing it to peices while wounding 2 others both of which V picked off with 2 quick shots to the brutes' chests. 3 down 6 to go. Nathan quickly took advantage of the suprised brutes and brought out his BR and mowed one down. Nate quickly went prone into the crater as the brutes quickly retaliated with their spikers, V quickly took out 2 advancing brutes by shooting them in their heads. Nate advanced and mowed down one more brute by shooting this brute in the chest multiple times. Nathan then confronted the brute cheiften, pulled out a spike grenade and clubbed it in the head with the grenade and quickly jumped out of the way of the deadly gravity hammer. adrenaline coursing through Nates body he whiped the gore off of his hands and proceded to the base of the AA gun. just then Nate felt the end of a spiker gun being placed on the back of his head. the brute that had hidden after the fighting started, began laughing a victory laugh. Nate closed his eyes and waited for darkness to come....... but it didnt ....... instead he heard a gun shot and a loud crack. Nathan spun aroung with his BR ready. The brute that had been behind him was on the ground missing part of its head. confused Nate looked at V's vantage point and saw him waving. "you missed one" V said while laughing. A smile spread across Nates face as he planted the explosives that V had given him. Nathan casually walked away from the AA gun and detonated the explosives once at a safe distance. "come on Command has one more job for us before we leave this hell hole" V said. "Great" Nate thought " more blood shed......


Chapter 3
Confusion

Nathan and Vtrooper slowly walked to the location where they had parked their Wart Hog. Nathan tripped a few feet from the hog and went to get up until he saw a small metal square with wires winding in and out of it Nathan got up and stopped V from getting any closer to the Wart Hog “what is it?” V said. Nathan responded by showing V the explosive "Whoever did this was very sloppy" Nate calmly stated. "This is.... a crude explosive isn’t it?" V asked. Nathan nodded his head as an answer. "Come on we should get moving before this thing blows." Nathan said as he was walking away. 30 minutes of Running in silence resulted in them reaching a clearing. Nathan heard the explosion of the device and then knew that the explosive had gone off. At that moment a beam rifle bolt kicked up dirt a few inches away from Nate’s feet. There was no need for Nate to tell V of what had occurred for he was already running for the tree line. Nathan ran furiously after V determined to get out of the Sniper's line of site. Two more shots came flying from the opposite side of the clearing and kicked up dirt from where they had missed. Nathan Zigzagged in an attempt to throw off the Sniper's shots. Lungs burning Nathan leaped into the tree line and hid behind a clump of trees. Safe at last... Nathan was set on making this brute pay. He brought his BR out and aimed. "V" Nate whispered. No answer. "V" Nate tried again. "Im here" V whispered. "V can you draw his fire?" V answered by sprinting and zigzagging back out into the clearing. Nathan admired V's bravery.... He was a good solider. Nate hastily searched the opposite tree line as one shot came screaming from a well-hidden branch. Nate quickly shot 3 times at the brute sniper’s chest. V was all right and the sniper was dead. The problem was resolved... “Nathan…” V said with a hint of confusion in his voice. “Nate listen to the mantis squads Com line…” V said. Nathan listened to V and checked the (ODST squad known as Mantis squad) designated Com line. “I have a bad feeling about this” Jake said. “We all do Jake” Onyx replied. “Stay sharp soldiers” Jake said with authority. “Sir” a distant voice called. “What is it Don?” Jake said. “I found a door…” don said. “Well open it” A new voice gravely said…

Chapter 4

Unleashed

“I have a bad feeling about this, and I am not sticking around to find out.” Jake calmly said. “STOP” The new and deep voice barked. “Sarge with all due respect but I really don’t think you should open that door” Jake said. “Yea, im going with Jake Sarge he knows what he is talking about” onyx said. “Well don’t forget about me,” Don said. “So this is it huh? You leave me with the two privates, well fine I we will complete the objective without you!” Sarge hastily said in a futile attempt to get his other soldiers back. Jake led onyx and Don away from the hallway they were in. “You will regret it! You will die as soon as you reach the surface! You will die from insubordination!” the Sarge screamed. There were gunshots as the Sergeant shot at the running ODST. Two more minuets of running resulted in the 3 ODST reaching the elevator that led to the surface. Nate switched his Com back to the Sarge and his group to see what they were about to uncover…. “Ok back up mantis squad” Sarge said there was 20 seconds of waiting and the door blew up revealing a new room. “… W…what is this Sarge?” a private shakily said. The Sarge was breathing heavily now “Close the door” Sarge suddenly said, as there was screeching coming from the depths of the room “Sir we blew the door into pieces we cant close the door…” one private said. “Oh Shi…” the Sarge said before he went silent “Kill it!! Kill it!!!” One private said. “Wha … AHHH….” The other private said as his vitals read KIA. Leaving the last private muttering gibberish as he was killed also. (back to onyx Jake and Don…). “Jake the Sarge and the two privates are dead…” said don. “But there wasn’t any Brutes down there” onyx added. “it wasn’t brutes it was either forerunner sentinels or the flood” Jake explained. “But why didn’t you tell Sarge then, he might have come along with us” don said. Screeching was heard which caused the 3 ODST to start sprinting after the elevator reached the top. “The Sarge got orders from our commander to open that door, if he had known there was flood in their he would’ve sent us in first while he ran.” Jake said. “I guess on the bright side the Sarge is dead and he wont be able to report us” Don Chimed in. Nate and V stopped listening and started running them selves to a near by base. “How far” V asked. “ 4 miles and we better get moving…” Nathan said as he remembered his city consumed by the flood, Nathan was taught to never feel emotion. But he felt something deep down in his stomach a familiar something. It was fear…….

Chapter 5

Calvary

“Don’t look back,” Jake breathed, “just keep running” those things came out of nowhere and Jake had a feeling that he hadn’t seen the last of them. “What’s our destination Jake?” onyx asked. “We are heading to an allied base, we should be safe there” Jake answered. “Yea right no one on this planet is safe from those things” Don said. The 3 ODST ran for 2 miles, which in turn led them reaching a clearing. The sky was a sick shade of orange with hell fire in the distance. The group ODST ran past 3 dead bodies filled with spiker rounds and a few sand bags. They reached a clearing and that’s when they saw them. “SHIT” don yelled. Onyx’s face grew pale at the sight of these new horrors. “Juggernauts!” Jake whispered. Jake quickly ducked down and pulled the other 2 down along with him. The juggernauts uttered a spine-chilling howl and charged jakes small group. Onyx acted fast this time and tossed one of his grenades in the path of a juggernaut, but to no avail. The 1st juggernaut simply went over the grenade before it blew up. While this was happening Jake drew his battle rifle and was firing at the 2nd juggernauts spore. Don drew a magnum and also started firing at the 2nd one. The juggernauts were closing in way to quickly Jake had to make a decision. Before Jake could think of any thing Onyx sprinted to the left of his comrades while firing his gun at the incoming monsters. “RUN” Onyx barked, “Get out of here” onyx yelled. The juggernauts took the bait and began to run after onyx. “NO!” Don yelled as Jake dragged him in the opposite direction. “He made his choice there is nothing we can do don” Jake said. Onyx’s BR clicked at zero ammo and sadly so did his hope. Onyx stood tall and clutched 1 grenade in his hand ready to face his death. That’s when 4 sniper rounds echoed from the opposite tree line tearing the Juggernauts apart. 2 Spartans emerged from the tree line. “Wha..” onyx said with a hint of relief in his voice. Nate walked over and pulled onyx to his feet. “Well you coming?” V sighed



Chapter 6

Running

“Oh shit oh shit oh shit” Don said while running. They had been running for a few miles now exhausted and out of breath the small group continued to run. The same flood horde had been chasing them for hours. “They are getting closer” V said in a monotone voice. That’s when it happened…. All hell broke loose, screeching was heard from all sides. Nate suddenly disappeared with a loud crack. “Spartan!” Jake called out. Jake stopped running to look around in vain. “There is no time he can look after himself,” V said as he grabbed Jake and pulled him until he was running again. “We are almost there I can see the base!” Onyx exclaimed. The base stood no farther than 100 yards away from the group of soldiers. V rolled forward and spun around downing 4 flood behind don. V pulled out 2 magnums and began rapid firing at the twisted mass of flesh. “Go I will give you cover” V said as he shot 5 more incoming flood. V threw his magnums aside and began catching up to the 3 ODST. A small group of worn out marines stood at the gate waiting for the 3 ODST and Spartan. “We have been told to wait for survivors, you made it in time for the evacuation.” V sighed in relief as he saw turrets on the left wall lighting up the group of pursuing flood. V, Onyx, Don, and Jake boarded the last waiting pelican in silence. Jake looked out in the distance wondering what had befallen the lost Spartan. “There was nothing we could’ve done for him,” V said in a slightly sad voice. Jake didn’t have an answer to that; he just stared out into the darkness that was space. “3 bases remain active sir” a near by marine said to another one. “We escaped from hell itself marines!” a Sergeant said from the front of the pelican. “OHH RAH” all of the marines said in unison.

Didn't I post something here earlier? Oh well.

Tons of spelling and grammer mistakes. Try shipping it into Word before you post it. Discriptions are getting better, but the way you portray them seems too straight-forward. A little less generic word choice would fix that nicely. Maby a little rearangements of scentences so that it's less "this, then this, then this". Overall, pretty good and getting better. I wouldn't mind a bit more insite on the characters though. I give it a 4/10.

yea i am going to give a special chapter devoted to Nathans history and i agree that chapter 2 wasnt very good but i will improve in chapter 3 dont worry

Nate you gotta stop using quickly so often and repeating words you got something good going here but u make it repetative like u just read the same sentence twice try to use different words to describe speed like hastly and "one fel swoop" theres many more but im sure you can think some up.... nice job so far overall

as i stated before i will try and get most CF people into the story line
