People are still trying to guess it's typing.

My money is going on just a Normal type, but it being Flying is not a far fetched possibility.

So if this is like the genes they're named after, should we expect X to be longer, yet more bitchy, and Y to be shorter and more masculine?

WTF?

Pokemon stopped being good after gen 3 for me..
Each new generation after the third just makes the previous one completely irrelevant now. It's probably because when I played pokemon growing up, the first 3 were the only ones that were around.

Idk, I guess a lot of people like that whole... new undiscovered world thing about pokemon (making evil use of peoples love for mystery if you ask me) but I for one like the traditional pokemon a lot more.

The first 3 generations had enough to not seem too small or too large with enough variety for each one. The new gens seem too formulaic and, in my opinion, lack heart or uniqueness.

BUUTT I guess they gotta keep the franchise chugging along. Although, it'd really be something else if they managed to make new games without having to continually add newer and shittier newer pokemon.

Also I know the DS isn't the most capable machine when it comes to graphics, but... those models look pretty fucking lame :/

EDIT: Not a hate speech.

Generation Four wasn't actually that bad, Well at least Platinum wasn't. I still play it time to time on an emulator. Heartgold/Soulsilver is literally just Crystal mixed with the respective version added a lot more stuff to make the Endgame and Kanto more interesting and then given Fourth Gen Graphics on top.

The Music in HG/SS and Platinum for that matter is beautifully done as well.

I can't speak for Black and White/Black2White2 though and sadly i don't think i'll be buying a 3DS just for Pokemon Y

;)

Between 2 and 3 is where I have drawn the line.

I thought 3 was a nice addition that added more varieties of pokemon that weren't so popular in I & II (all the obscure ones like normal, dark, ghost, psychic and whatnot) but gen III did start to get silly with the un-pokemon.
By that I mean, some of the pokemon looked more like constructs or robots w/o souls.
It was hard to love your... claydoll because it looked like some fucked up art project by a elementary schooler.
The pokemon started to degrade in quality with III. note: not AFTER III, with III. It's still bearable in my opinion.

Gen III also had some really good games I thought, like Ruby, Sapphire, Leaf Green, Fire Red, Emerald, and (don't hate) Colosseum (so all of them?).

The problem I had with Gen III was that I couldn't trade from Gen II to Gen III, meaning it was impossible to get certain Pokemon. In Gen II, I could use the Time Capsule to trade with Gen I. Before the battery in my Silver cartridge died, I had 249/251 Pokemon (because Mew and Celebi are unobtainable legitimately).

Evolution is a problem I had with the series as a whole. Some pokemon can't evolve to their third tier unless you trade, which is absolutely stupid I think. Pokemon, for me, was mostly a single player experience. Why in the world would you force players to trade in order to succeed if the players didn't want to?

Fortunately some classy people are able to fix these problems with ROM hacks. Another benefit of ROM hacks are that they're on the PC, and pretty user friendly.

Okay, if I'm playing alone evolution isn't nearly a big enough incentive to get another handheld and another copy of the game.
