Re: Borderlands 2
And the Wall Street Journal shows they have no idea how to review video games. Look at this intentionally hilarious review of the game.

Re: Borderlands 2
he sequel to the highly acclaimed 2009 Borderlands game goes on shelves Tuesday in Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions for around $60. At that price point, the first-person shooter, published by 2K Games, inevitably invites comparisons with the Halos and Call of Duty games already out and due to come in the next few weeks and months.
Borderlands 2 falls short because it’s missing several key elements you need to have in a 2012 first-person shooter game – most notably, a rich multiplayer online mode. There’s an extremely limited four-player cooperative mode
OMG LOL
Re: Borderlands 2
My favourite quotes from the article.
I had to go back to Wikipedia descriptions of the original game to remember all the intricate twists and turns of the Borderlands backstory, which involved a couple of mega-corporations, called Dahl Corp. and Atlas Corp.
Borderlands 2’s single-player campaign mode isn’t as good as what you’ll find in games like COD: Black Ops or the Medal of Honor series. There’s too much “feast-or-famine” hunting for tasks, supplies and a good battle for this to be a fun game all the way through.

Re: Borderlands 2
Menacing? What characters are supposed to feel like anything but a hilariously over-the-top caricature?Menacing characters like Handsome Jack, who tries to knock you off in the opening sequence via a double-crossing explosion, are not at all fearsome
There are legitimate complaints about just how annoying Claptrap is, but he seemed to have completely missed the point.Claptrap acts as your guide, and is a fairly detestable character, who left me cold. When his camera eye got plucked out by an alien on the first mission, I didn’t care. Still, I had no choice but to go out and put my Zero character at risk to restore the loathsome droid’s sight.
So at this point can we pretty much conclude that this guy has pretty much never played an FPS before?Controls are very similar to COD, which makes the game very familiar and easy to play right out of the box.

Re: Borderlands 2
Whats funny is in one paragraph he complains about the cursing and how it's unneeded and over the top, then a paragraph or two later he's talking about how he's playing with his 14 year old kid lol.

Re: Borderlands 2
The more I play this game, the more I like it. It has improved in almost every way from its predecessor. If you're not getting it now because it's $60, at least gnab it if you find a sale below $40.
Also, I'm pretty sure I lost brain cells from reading that article. Conan O'Brian gives better reviews than that.

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to care when Knuckle Dragger plucks out Claptrap's eye. If you feel anything other than malicious pleasure, there's probably something wrong with you. You are very clearly supposed to hate Claptrap. Every single line of dialog involving Claptrap is centered around how much you're supposed to hate Claptrap. You endanger yourself to restore his sight because Angel told you that you needed him to get to Sanctuary. You had to go through Liar's Berg anyway, after all, and it was Claptrap who shows you where to get a ship in order to get off the Southern Shelf.

Played through the first few hours of the game. Enjoying it so far. Dying a lot more than I did during the original as the AI will punish you if you get careless, and haven't found a gun a really like yet.
I like what they've done with Roland.

Re: Borderlands 2
I definitely have a few beefs with the game.
The user interface is shit. I have trouble equipping guns and the like, as that menu often bugs up, and the trade menu is just awful to work with. To date, I've not played with a person who didn't have a lot of trouble working with the trade menu the first few times they used it.
The game is also buggy at times. It seems that, rather than scripting universal pathing for the AI, which would make sense since you encounter just about every type of common enemy in just about every type of area, enemies are pathed individually. For example, while trying to level up a Goliath so that we could get the achievement, we kited a Goliath from a back area of The Dust onto the flats where the Bandit Technicals spawn. The Goliath jumped down at us, but suddenly it couldn't path and began glitching into the floor, sliding back up the wall we'd jumped off of, and doing various other things. I've also noticed at times that I can pick off Bullymogs with ease because if you stand in certain areas (and I mean out in the open, not like glitchy areas), you'll be at the edge of their pathing, and they will ignore you even as you shoot them.
We also ran into a bug where, during the fourth wave of the fifth round of the arena, a single enemy glitched while exiting a door, and subsequently could neither be seen nor shot. Unable to leave because the quest was technically still ongoing, but unable to complete the quest because the game has no contingency script of any kind, such as one stating that if no enemies are present in the arena for one minute, to just proceed, we all had to kill ourselves to intentionally fail the quest just to get out.
However, I feel that the dialog and writing more than make up for these flaws. I wouldn't call Borderlands 2 my favorite game by any stretch, but it's definitely a game I intend to play through a few times.

Re: Borderlands 2
Nah, it's not perfect but it's a great improvement and probably going to be one of my favorite games this year. ...right next to FTL and Planetside 2.
Halo 4 is yet to be decided. I have a feeling it will be good, but not a favorite. Lets ignore what I just said though and talk more about Borderlands.

No, seriously guys. I can quit whenever I want.
One more comment: Handsome Jack is now one of my favorite villain of all time.

You wont. However, I recommend giving the slot machines in town a few spins since there really isn't a whole lot more to do with money. They out the same customization after a while and iridium quickly becomes useless, but I've gotten some pretty awesome guns from those slot machines. You can always sell the ones you don't want.... and then use the proceeds to go play more slots.haven't found a gun a really like yet.

All I really want is a decent corrosive shotgun, similar to the one I rocked in the first game, because if most of Hyperion's forces are Robots, It would be really helpful.

Re: Borderlands 2
At lvl20, the guns in the slot machines seem to be all rubbish. Even getting triple Moxxi or triple Marcus doesn't seem to do beat the greens I already have. Have yet to get triple Vault symbols yet.

Re: Borderlands 2
Buzzard Academy was really tough. My friends and I were kiting around a goliath (we do that a lot) to try and get him to become a Lord Pheonix-liath, and these fucking buzzards just kept spawning.
