Did anyone else catch the "Nintendo reviles its new console" tid-bit? Really? Another one?

Wii was released in 2006. We are talking 5 years ago (Probably 6 as most people assume it will be released next year).

That's a pretty standard console lifespan.

Anyone think it's possible that Microsoft and Sony have been hiding a new console project? I'm curious as to what they will be announcing.

Nintendo has a track record of releasing a new console every 5 years exactly.

Maybe they joined forces against Nintendo.

It is entirely possible that they might. Both Sony and Microsoft.

I think a new console 'announcement' is more possible. But complete reveal etc, just a couple more years.

so i only miss the MS conference, and it should be the least filling...

I'm fairly certain that MS and Sony both announced upon the release of their respective consoles that the'd have 10 years of life. So I don't think we'll see a new console just yet, especially because of all the updating and shit MS in particular has done with the 360 to change it radically from how it originally started.

Nintendo...I've known for a while that they've been making a new console. But does it honestly surprise anyone that they would be?

No one's saying that it's surprising. But I'm excited for it. I hope it still has backwords playablitly so I can play the Wii games I never did.

Because the Wii is in it's saturation down-spiral and the 3DS currently is a total bomb (Unless they get some decent games out for it pronto). And hey the Xbox 360 got good market of software out by coming out first (Even though the first slew of games were poor and it was plagued with reliability issues.) besides, Nintendo really needs something right now, especially now the other tow are gunning for it's market with the Move and Kinect.

Both Sony and Microsoft have their next gen console in the works. But not in anticipation of a release too soon. It's simply R&D. The 360s 10 year lifespan is in 4 years. And if nothing else, they're wondering what they can do about this blu-ray thing, since they can't use blu-ray, but games are getting too big for dvds.

Hopefully they'll start giving options to install the multiple discs and then disc 1 is used to launch the game.

like what ME2 did NT?

i found that it worked, but most console players are not used to it.

me2 didn't do that at all. you had to switch discs even with both installed.

The main reason they don't allow a single disc to launch it is the fact you can then pass off the other discs to a friend and he can be playing normally on those while you play off the install

Well, it's primarily because my spelling sucks and I don't really read what the words say in the spellcheck menu... I just kinda click the first thing that looks remotely like the word I was going for.
