The thing that never has been shut off for like 8 years died?? NOOOOOO!!!!!

If you're looking into a laptop, I'll personally reccomend Dell Studio with upgraded graphicscard, RAM, Harddrive and all the other gaming components.
All those options are available when choosing laptop from Dell's homepage and the computer is quite powerfull.

Eh, dell is really overpriced. What's your price range for this laptop?

Dell gives student discounts though, plus I've got other discounts and coupons if I buy from them.

What im looking at for how much I can spend is about $1000 I already had set aside for it, and that will be around $2000 in a couple more weeks.

I have a Compaq, it wasn't overly expensive and it's worked pretty well with only one major crash in two years (And that was because of Vista, not the laptop.)

What are you going to be using your laptop for? If you're using it for gaming, what games do you want it to run?

For school, college and stuff, but still powerful enough to meet my gaming needz.

I still like Dell for the fact that I can get a nice laptop and get it with $400 off the base price

This will handle all of your gaming needs, and its a lot better than anything dell has to offer. (excluding alienware). If you can get one of these, then this is definitely the best laptop for its price.

This is about $100 cheaper and the only difference is that is has a 500 gb hard drive instead of a 1 terabyte hard drive.

Second one is Virtually the same thing I was looking at, except with more RAM, also costs $150 more. Now, if that were still in stock, I would have seriously considered it.

Not really a gaming comp either, school/college/personal laptop. The only reason I'm bothering with a higher-end laptop is because everyone at the Uni's that I talked to suggested it. They said I would need at least like 2 GB of DDR3 at one place, for example, and an i5 processor
