That kid doesn't understand the big bang theory at all. The theory is that all mass in the universe was supercondensed into on infinitesimally small point, and then exploding. Not that there was nothing, then an explosion. Also there it is likely that there was a universe before this, and that it had a big bang but then later snapped back into that one point.
