It's not something I would be shouting from rooftops about, and to be honest, your relying solely one person, who's memories may have detoriated, may have ego issues, or simply made the story up to make their life seem more interesting.

Go make a family tree, and show me where your family supposedly joins hers. Then go get evidence to prove that the geniality is correct. Get Birth certificates, death certificates, any info you can find to confirm your claim.

and really my only way to do it is ancestry.com or hire someone to reasearch...both of which cost money...

Have a test done on your Mitochrondiral DNA, and try to obtain a sample of her's.

Mitochrondrial DNA always comes from your mother, therefore if your are a blood relative, the DNA should be identical.
