Re: Top Ten Unexplained Phenomena
It's interesting how google has the power to single handedly spark global interest in a topic of their choosing.
Re: Top Ten Unexplained Phenomena
Thats not the point of this thread, even though Google did bring it up.

Re: Top Ten Unexplained Phenomena
lets give this a shot.
The mind is the only thing that actually processes the world around it. In this day and age, with all the pharmaceutical commercials our mind is tricked into believing it MUST have some issue thus it makes one. Then the mind believing its been cured fixes it.
or in terms of placebo's affecting 'real' things like nerve damage causing pain, the mind just shuts off recognizing those pain receptors whenever it doesn't believe that there should be pain since the nerve damage is 'fixed'.
to be an unexplained phenomena it has to have been proven to have happened. so this is immediately crushed.
the mind continues to work after the heart stops. until you're effectively 'brain dead' you aren't actually dead. and the gap period between the two is your mind running wild about what the after-life holds. much like dreaming.
SWAMP GAS!!!!!
I actually have yet to see anything close to a convincing story of UFOs. All of them have very obvious flaws.
This is merely a false connection between the parts of the brain that analyze the present and cache the past. It essentially has the present being cached as past and compared back onto itself (the present) to get the feeling that it happened before.
a better 'unexplainable phenomena' is 'vuja de' which is the feeling that something that just happened, never happened. but even that is explained like deja vu except in that the present isn't being cached whatsoever as being fact, but merely thought.
I have yet to see anything remotely convincing about ghosts. It's your mind playing tricks.
Just because no one has released what happened, doesn't mean no one knows. Obviously something happened. maybe someone killed them and cut them into tiny pieces. maybe they broke their leg, fell into a ravine and got washed out to sea?
this is unexplainable? my god....
the mind is a HUGELY powerful thing and can subconciously pick up on LOTS of things the main logical part of the mind neglects. Just sit and think for a moment. you have your main thought process in the forefront of your mind, but theres always smaller thoughts that you can feel happening behind it. its much like that.
Or a good metaphor is your mind is like a company. your main thought is the CEO. the CEO doesn't know whats happening throughout the company, and your intuition is an URGENT MEMO about whats happening.
just lol
whoo vibrations effecting the hairs in your ear making you perceive sound.
seriously? this is the best these people can come up with?

Re: Top Ten Unexplained Phenomena
only thing i disagree with on your list nt is number 8
i have met a man that was put into hospital morgue for a full 14 hours was thought to be completely dead(his brain had spill out a little, they put it back in, in the AUTOPSY, and lost 50%of his blood) that when one of the morgue technicians(right word?) opened the drawer he was in fainted because he opened his eyes and asked where he was and why
the guy is living now
and talked about an afterlife sooo.... idk

Re: Top Ten Unexplained Phenomena
Unexplained phenomena don't have to have of actually happened, otherwise it wouldn't be unexplained.
These are all things that many people have claimed to have seen/ have happened to them. Well for one, the placebo effect is just another way to prove the law of attraction, and to prove that your own body is the most powerful medicine ever. You can cure yourself of an uncurable disease or cancer by though alone.
No doubt aliens exist in the trillions of galaxies in the universe, UFO's don't seem to far out of a concept. To actually tell wether you've seen a UFO is hard, especially because it could be light tricks or mind fucks. My friend claims to have seen one, and taken a picture of it. It was a picture on a perfectly cloudless day, there was a small bright light in the sky, completely opposite to the sun.
Deja Vu is either explained by your mind connecting certain places, areas, people, and things together to create that feeling of you being there before, even when you never actually have been. The other description is that in a past life that you were put through, that location where you experienced it was prominent to the past life.
Ghosts cannot be explained in any way at all so far, but there is no reason to shoot them down. I'm pretty sure I watched this video with caral sagan explaining that these beings from another dimmension that is invisble to humans, can interact with our plane of existence, exiting and entering it at will. I have never seen a ghost, communicated with them through a Ouija board counts? I know there are explanations to the board itself, but I like being a believer.
Big Foot I can hardly care about, if he/she/it is existent, its doing a really bad job of keeping its existence a secret.
The Taos hum? Haven't heard of this one, but explanations could be possible hysteria or paranoia like the article says, although, there are many people who experience it.

whether or not aliens exist isn't the thing though, but specifically alien spacecraft probing our world.
The likelihood of any aliens being able to even visit our planet is EXTREMELY small.

I want to see his EKG that showed that his brain truly had zero activity.
Its not like he's the only person thats ever been pronounced dead that wasn't. Hell, a specific chemical compound found in puffer fish can make a person appear just as dead as the actually dead.

Kslidz, you're going off someones word, you really can't use it. If you believe his word, then you're just desperate to hear there is a afterlife.

Re: Top Ten Unexplained Phenomena
except for the FACT that he has medical records recording his "death"
i cant be sure what he saw after his death but NTs explanation doesnt make sense in this particular case

Re: Top Ten Unexplained Phenomena
So? There are few ways you can "die" and then be brought back. Certain toxins/venoms can do that, or simply jumpstarting the heart could bring them back.
True death would be loss of all brain and bodily functions.

yeah when your brain is outside his head and they have to put it back in and you only have 50% of your blood your pretty much dead
oh and when you have an AUTOPSY done
this wasnt
he has no pulse or brain aves hes dead *10 min later* HES ALIVE
no it was 14 HOURS LATER
after an AUTOPSY

Something that's missing from that list is the Bermuda Triangle, even though myself and many others here (Im sure) know how ships and planes are disappearing.
