Halo 2 was great, the best of the trilogy. A compelling storyline, backstory on the Covenant, two protagonists, and a multiplayer which changed the way we play.

No. Halo CE was the best of the trilogy, don't even try to argue that in this forum. Halo 2 was a huge shortcoming. While the plot wasn't quite as bland as the one in Halo 3, it does not stand up to the story of the original. All the characters but Johnson had degraded since the last game, and those introduced lacked interesting personality. While obviously the graphics were better the gameplay was a letdown. All of the new ideas they introduced were either bad or poorly executed. This transfers over the multiplayer as dual wielding and the breaking up of the assault rifle between a headshot weapon and a dual wieldable weapon really brought it down from it's original glory. Sure it sold well based off the popularity of the first game and the introduction of online play really revolutionized the industry, but I think the rest of us agree that if there was online on the first one it would have been much better.

Halo CE was amazing. Halo 2 was a letdown. Halo 3 was solid. The worst in the trilogy was the second, and I think that most here would also agree with me.

Just because Halo 2 was the worst does not make it bad at all.
