The times? UK still has a queen for christ's sake! What are you yelling at us for?noir wrote:We have universal health care over here; believe me, it would feel distinctly strange to live in a country without it. Come along america, get with the times.

the queen has no power though.
Speaking of the queen of england, quote from Top Gear
"well the Queen of England and Elton John were there....which is the same thing really"

Ha ha.
It's worse than that. Recently the Queen said she was brokeand asked for more money from the taxpayer. 7 million I think. Of course everyone just said, no lol, and she went back to being strapped.

Re: Universal Healthcare
Too all americans, I'm really not trying to start a flame war. We have public and private healthcare over here.
Everyone pays towards the NHS, which I personally use for doctors and other health related, but I also use a private dental clinic because the NHS ones suck, are slow and over 30 screaming children in each one - but they are there, and they are 'effectively' free. But I believe that the idea of 'everyone contributes, uses at their will' is a good way to go. I can understand with the low-tax, small government ethos of much of the USA why it is not already, or a particularly popular idea.

Re: Universal Healthcare
Last I checked, the Queen was the second richest woman in England. You'll never guess who is the single richest woman in the UK.Cheese wrote:Ha ha.

Oh yeah that makes much more sense. Good for her! I like her; she's really nice, loves what she does and is willing to take risks.

Re: Universal Healthcare
Huh, found some interesting things on this.
Page 16 of the healthcare bill that congress is going through says that we cannot keep our private healthcare insurance. Oh, and congress is exempt from this for five years, but it is also built so that this five years can be extended as far as they want.
This doesn't seem like an extension of medicaid to me...

I'd like to see what the page actually says, rather than Civ's basic runover of it.
