Mano et mano, the Brute would win because of it's sheer phyiscal strength.

But Elites are smart and cunning, and in the right conditions they would turn the battle in their favour.

I'd go with the Elite.

Elite all the way, even in a straight up fight, in more than one occasion I have seen an Elite duck a punch from a Brute in Halo, and then turn around and kill the bastard. Elite is much much faster than a Brute, i'd say its about a 50/50 shot, but I went with elite cause they don't fuck you over in the game O_o
