Personal Anti-virus
Well, just recently i was searching on the web for an online text of The Giver (Ctr+F for Vocab FTW!) and i went to a site, that had a redirect that made me manually go to back options (if i hit back once, it would go to the redirect page, then redirect me directly back). When i went back, it said that i had several viruses on the computer, and said:
"Personal Anti-virus can defend your computer. Would you like to download it?" Not being an idiot, i hit cancel, however, it still started downloading, and i also recall a list of things infected by the virus that was supposedly in my computer, and it said "37 files infected". There was more, but i didn't see at all, i simply quickly hit Ctrl+Alt+Esc. Don't know if that actually did anything, but it froze up the computer, and i was able to turn off my computer manually.
I restarted my computer. It didn't work the first time, it was caught at the Windows loading screen, slightly dimmed, and not moving. i restarted againg, and it went to a Windows Black Screen that said it failed last time, and what configuaration to use. I selected last known effective configuration, and it turned on. I immediatly ran a Noroton PC Check-Up (my internet is fast, it can handle it), and it detected nothing. So i'm guessing the Personal Anti-Virus was the virus.
Does anyone have any information on the Personal Anti-Virus? Anything i should be worried about, or how it is triggered?

Re: Personal Anti-virus
its one of those "false" antivirus methods that actually is just a scam to steal your money, in the event that this happens again dont hit anything just turn off your computer and cut your connection to the internet, then scan your computer and make sure it didnt put anything on it. then reconnect and scan again.
That usually will make sure it doesnt do anything, Remember they can probably disquise the cancel button as the download button so its best not to hit anything.

So i'm guessing the best way to avoid it would be the next time it pops up, Ctrl+Alt+Delete to cancel it?dragoon9105 wrote:its one of those "false" antivirus methods that actually is just a scam to steal your money, in the event that this happens again dont hit anything just turn off your computer and cut your connection to the internet, then scan your computer and make sure it didnt put anything on it. then reconnect and scan again.

I thought the reason most people didn't like Noroton was because it slowed down the computer, but i have a computer that can cope with that and a lot more.
