Re: Halo Wars, again
I understand the Pillar of Autumn, since it's so far back. Wait, is when the PoA retired in Fall of Reach? I'll have to go read it.
And i'm still on the forums

I succesfully countered an arbiter rush today. Game lasted like 1hour 15 minuts. It was exhausing, I've never built so much hellbringers ever.

Re: Halo Wars, again
Well, here's the game stats: http://www.halowars.com/stats/StatsGame.aspx?Id=10434420-3482-7922-7261-000000000000
I did my usual begin tactic, built supply pads and started reconing the enemy. While also collecting crates. The first recon revealed that Mr Arbie was only building supply pads and a temple, so I knew what I was up against.
I started building flamers and upgrading them. I also was trying to get scorpions but I noticed Arbie had actually captured the firebases that were supposed to be mine.
Shorly after all hell broke loose, when I first encountered Arbie. I dropped a power drainer and started the barbecue, but he teleported out.
From here on it was an up and down battle, with both of us poking at each other. Firebases rose as fast as they fell, but this was the same for him. I eventually managed to break through his lines and kill the Arbie for the first time of the game. My scorpions took care of his first firebase, and I knew this was a first important blow to him (as Arbie's rage ability uses alot of resources).
The decisive moment was when I managed to get one of the firebases near his base, and started pumping out vultures. He had like only hunters and Arbie himself. So my flamers took care of arbie while vultures pounded his bases. Oh also, before this decisive moment, Arbie was cloaking and doing strike attacks on my unguarded firebases, teleporting in hunters and stuff. But I managed to quarantine his strikes.
So yea, after about an hour, the battle was finally over. The reason I won was probably due to the lack of variety in my opponent's army. And the fact I knew he was gonna Arbie rush.

No!
The Halcyon-class Cruisers were deemed undergunned, ineffective and too costly to maintain, as such they were placed into long term storage. However as the war went on, and casualties mounted, the UNSC pulled the ships from storage and refit them, giving them a much better offensive capability. That along with the Halcyon's known capabilities of remaining operational after losing 95% armour and breaches to all sections, remade the Crusiers into some of the most effective ships in the fleet.
The UNSC Pillar of Autumn is supposed to be in storage during the events of Halo Wars.

Never mind, just checked, they had light armour, but a good frame.

A spread of 3cm for every meter of range is a pretty good rule of thumb.Kasrkin Seath wrote:JB wrote:my favorite dumb scene ive seen (still only played the demo) is where Sergant Forge (Which BTW is probably the most retarded name ive ever heard of) pop up and fire a shotgun 20+ feet at an Elite and every single shot hitting him in the chest. I thought that was halariously dumb (getting the game really soon)
Shotguns are rather accurate, contrary to popular belief.
And yeah, Forge is a sucky name. It's like Graeme decided to make him a combination of Schwarzenegger's and Ventura's characters in "Predator", and gave him a name to match.

I mean, he's two hundred pounds, the Arbiter must be like half a ton (same weight as the Spartans).

I think it's because he caught him off guard and off balance.
I don't know he was able to fire his pistol that fast though, or how the sword activated when he picked it up.
But weren't the Spartans awesome?

Nevermind that, I dont see how he managed to hold the Arbiter's sword arm down long enough to get THAT many rounds into him.
(Yes I finally got the game yesterday and now Im happy )
Oh yeah, on that mission where your on top of the SoF and have to destroy all the flood forms, anyone have any tips for that? I beat it but barely and I lost quite a bit of my air locks in the process. So is there any good strategy for it?

Also try to use the healing power on the airlocks.
Again I think it was surprise and momentum.

Lol, did you install it to your HD?
I had a failing disc problem with far cry 2 some time ago, and after I got it on the HD it just needs to detect the CD in order to play.

So overall, is Halo Wars a Starship Troopers or is it an Indiana Jones IV?

Starship Troopers was "fun", but it was very stupid. Bad dialogue, bad costume design, bat acting, and it didn't stay true to the book. But the fight scenes were "KEWL!"Felix wrote:Rasq'uire'laskar wrote:So overall, is Halo Wars a Starship Troopers or is it an Indiana Jones IV?

Indiana Jones IV is WORSE. Nobody's hearts were in it, they completely ruined the franchise beyond all hope of recovery, and individual members of the audience lost a normalized average of 12 IQ points watching it.

I think it's a combination of both...
Starship Johns IV
EDIT:My meaning is, the game is "fun" but it lacks the depth and story the other halo games and books offered us. and it also bum fucked the canon

No. I was going to but, appaantly by the time I got around to it, the disc was too badly damaged to work.
As for Halo Wars, I'd say it was similar to Starship Troopers.
