Activision's failure Empty Activision's failure

Post by KristallNacht Tue Jan 27, 2009 9:45 am

Who else thinks it's gay that Activision canceled a bunch of awesome games (Ghostbusters!!!) because "they don't have the potential to be exploited year after year"....and an Activision PR guy said that quote....

What is it with Activision and hating on original content?

I thought Ghostbuters, was still had the go ahead after 2K didn't want to publish it.

They have to stick with the brand that will sell, so WoW, SCII on the Blizzard side, and their usual big titles on the Activision side. (Call of Duty being one of the biggest)

The sad thing is new ideas don't always work. Mirror's Edge is a prime example of that, though it was nice that EA for once actually stopped making the same five games over and over.

Shame they were as bad as all the other stuff EA comes out with.

Mirrors edge style movement is gonna be used in future battlefield games

And mirrors edge by no means sucked

And EA has turned itself around. It no longer is the place all fun goes to die

Because it's a risk and people won't buy it.

They think people qould prefer Call of Duty 57: How many times can we spend winning world war two single handedly.

Name me one other new IP they came out with other than Dead Space and Mirror's Edge.

They only thing I can think of was Army of Two and that wasn't great.

FP platforming, still not the greatest concept ever. It was a good attempt, but it wasn't as good as they made it out to be.

EA still has a long way to go.

Ah that would suck, as would a game about the Civil war. Yours and mine.

Fire! And spend the next three minutes reloading so we can fire again!

If that didn't work, stab them with your sword!

Um P, you do know that rifles have been used as standard since the beginning of the 18th century, right? And besides, the Civil War was pretty much the last war fought where armies lined up for the most part, and the British and French were the ones to introduce modern tactics into war in WWI, they were by no means lining up to get shot.

I actually think some early war action would be great, I'd like to see the other sides and parts of the war for once.

The quote was from Rob Kotick... and he's a CEO, not a PR.

You also took it pretty far out of context. He said that in reference to Guitar Hero, and COD.

Still, yeah, "Activision Sux0r5!" What more could you have expected from them?

De ja vu....

It's not too bad. They no longer support Battlezone either, but I deal. The better of the games they cut off have communities behind them that keep them running. This almost improves the games in my opinion... now they're out of the hands of the greedy and un-caring.
