Well, the reason for everyone having a gun here is the fact that you are either a Hunter, Looking to commit crimes or trying to defend against crimes, so having a gun here is a must.
Not having a gun here is basically making yourself the good ol' Polish during WWII... like charging cavalry against a tank column

The polish were the only ones to really use cavalry charges, and they failed miserably
The russians didn;t charge 50,000 cavalry, they charged 2 million infantry and 10,000 tanks

The russians lost horribly int he early phases of the war. THats when they lost most of their ground.
