There's pretty much nothing shown about it now, other than a map, but it's an oldschool isometric rpg in the same vein as Planetscape Torment and Baldur's Gate and it is made by Obsidian.

Hmm...

Should I fund this game, or the mod team that's going to develop the bug patches?

*looks at funding*

That's... uh... that's not possible. That... how does...

I wonder if Project Eternity will be like other Obsidian games. That is, 2/3 of a really good game, but too buggy to be worth playing through more than once.

Fallout 1 and 2 didn't really have that problem. That was mostly New Vegas, and even then it wasn't that bad.

In any case, this should at least be interesting.

New Vegas was the only one created by Obsidian.

They helped with 1 and 2. I believe that Obsidian actually came from Interplay or something like that. Kinda like Robot and Ensemble.

Kotor2 was cut to fuck, but that was because EA rushed them to finish it by Christmas even though they had only worked on it for like 6-8 months.

According to TVTropes, Obsidian arranges the release date beforehand and then it's nonnegotiable. Probably not the most reliable source, but eh...

Most of the team that worked on Fallout is apart of Obsidian, so while Obsidian didn't make it, their team is responsible for the game.

And their games may be buggy, but too buggy to play more than once? Lie. Even as buggy as Fallout: New Vegas was, it was still a way better game than Fallout 3. (then again Fallout 3 isn't a very good game so it's not saying much but still...)

When it comes to making games, Obsidian is up there with Valve for me. Not the same level but Obsidian makes good games.

Black Isle studios, who were owned by Interplay, made Fallout 1 and 2.

When Black Isle studios closed, a lot of the developers from that studio eventually wound up working at Obsidian.
