Need a Laptop?
Yes I do.
I need to get a good, medium sized laptop for school, but I also wan't something that can at least play Crysis on medium (if not higher). Preferably something between 750 to 1000 dollars and small and inconspicuous enough for me to take it around campus.
Any suggestions?

I think my brother's laptop can do it, and it's almost a year old, and I think he only payed a little over 1k for it.

Eh, you could try alienware, but I don't know the exact cost of them, as I believe my friend paid $1,500 for his.

This one looks like it could get the job done:

Yeah, I would like something a little plainer though, something that would make people less inclined to steal it on the account.

Eh, laptops are ok. I wish I had a gaming computer though, hopefully I can afford one soon.

That can run it on all high for less than $500 (its a few years old now, prices have dropped).
Now in terms of laptops, I would suggest going for these two, if you were willing to spend an extra $150. (they should run crysis on all very high, maybe with some AA, and are a lot better than the one from tiger direct):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152196
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152206
For under $1000, I would recommend these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834157298
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114907
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115792
(the benchmarks I looked at say that you can run crysis on med-high with a 5650, though the one you posted should be able to run it on high due to the 260m being a bit faster than the mobile 5650)

You might want to look at the Alienware MX11. It looks bad ass.

It's gpu isn't very good (bout the same as a 5650), and he doesn't want a flashy one. Also, its M11X according to their site.

Just curious, which would be a better "gaming" laptop if I only had one for gaming.

I'm pretty sure you'd need at least one of these to play Crysis on full specs:

Just remember, its awesome (really kickass comp) but is meant to be a desktop replacement so it has a bad battery life.

I would personally say that laptop =/= gaming computer, but if you want to, go for it.
I just settled for a Dell since I got a discount on it.

Re: Need a Laptop?
Mine can run Crysis on high and was $999.99. It's an ASUS, M60J model. However, that was many months ago. They have some more updated models now. Here's a good one: the G73JhFelix wrote:Play Crysis, but only around $1000?
that tech hasn't been invented yet.
And here's the most recent version of my M60J. It has an updated processor (now the Intel i7, top of the line at the moment compared to my lousy dual core) and a 500 GB hard drive instead of 300 GB (though I had trouble filling my old 120 GB).
These are a tad over $1000, but you can go to Best Buy and find a good version of these for only $800 to $1200 like I did. Sure, that's just ASUS, but mine has been very loyal to me. Hope it helps.
Re: Need a Laptop?
So there are different versions of the M60J? I wonder if you can custom order one with the specs you want.
I probably should have posted the specifications I'm looking for.
1. 500GB storage capacity.
2. Crysis on high.
3. 4GB DDR3 ram minimum. (any more wouldn't be that useful)
4. durable, and plain.
5. Medium sized, as in not a netebook and not that giant stealth fighter laptop.
6. Inconspicuous, so people are less inclined to steal it, obviously the alienware laptops are not this.
7. UNDER 1000$!!!!
If possible, I would like to get the i7 processor, but it's not critical so long as the GPU can handle Crysis without it. So far the Asus laptops are looking like the best candidates. Also, super glossy laptops are fingerprint magnets, and I would like something that does not attract greasy smudge marks.
OH, and a Blu ray player is a big plus.
