A cluttered desktop is when people save files to their desktop. I put SHORTCUTS on my desktop... cuz... you know... they're SHORTCUTS. That's what the desktop is for.

You have NO idea who Rob Thomas is, do you? Don't just google it; tell me the truth.

Rob Thomas doesn't have a fanbase. He make money because he writes great, hit songs and performs them well.

And performing songs well gives him fans, thus a fan base.

He's been pumping out hit songs since he could walk. Rob's only 39, yet the guy has more hits than pretty much any other major artist. Still, NOBODY knows who he is. He doesn't put his name out there like other artists and he doesn't do stupid crap to get attention.

Despite his unprecedented success, he doesn't have much of a fan base. People love his work because the work is good, not because he's the one who made it.

Most people know pretty much all of these songs. Most people have no idea who Rob Thomas is. Many don't even know who Matchbox 20 is (his band).

What he's saying is that Thomas' SONGS have more of a fanbase than Thomas does himself since, like Civ said, Thomas doesn't do retarded things to get him noticed. But those who know that Rob Thomas sings those songs will go out and buy the albums and slowly become a fan of Rob Thomas like that. I had no idea that Rob Thomas sang half of those songs until a few years ago, and I already loved a TON of them.

Tim, you said he was nice in his interview to appeal to his fanbase. I responded by saying he (as a singer) doesn't have a very big fanbase. You continued to press it, so I demonstrated that despite his massive amount of hits, nobody knows who he is - thus, he, himself, doesn't have much of a fanbase.

I know who Rob Thomas is. He's my boss's boss's boss's boss. He came by with my boss's boss Sandy and my boss's boss's boss Paul to inspect the store the other day. I was alone for three hours trying to maintain the store to the lofty expectations of corporate, and would have succeeded, except a group of college students came in and trashed the place right before corporate showed up, and I had a long line and couldn't do a thing about it until after corporate had left.

So are you saying you would still be a fan of him if he, in an interview, said "Fuck charities! I want to keep my money!" Not to mention an extremely bad interview, like that line there, could easily make it onto the news, letting everyone know who Rob Thomas was, although not necessarily for his music.... Also I don't think I've heard those songs. At least not enough to recognize them. But then again, most of the music I listen to was written before he was born.
