We pretty much only imprison those who try and sneak into our country illegally or bring drugs in. It works that way for pretty much every country you enter.

Yeah, and you shackle somebody with a LIFE SENTENCE for trying to smuggle marijuana. Seriously, the legal systems around the world are so fucking insensitive to human life. My mom works at a court house where some guy got 25 years for LOOKING at child pornography on the internet. I mean, that stuff is VERY VERY WRONG, but the guy wasn't taking part in its creation, or paying any money for it. He was just LOOKING AT IT on the internet, and now he'll spend the next 25 years of his life in a jail cell.

That makes no sense to me. What good has been done?

Well life is about thinking harshly Recon. If you want my opinion, that guy deserves 25 years in prison for even thinking of looking up child pornography. Seriously, looking up something like that is just sick and twisted. It's great how harshly that issue was dealt with because looking up nude children on the computer is about as sick as you could get. It does good because it means that there is one less sick person out there in the community.

I disagree. That guy could have been extremely shameful of his 'fetish,' but just lacked the self control to stop. I think in this case, seeing as he wasn't really hurting anyone, counseling would have been more reasonable, and much more productive.

On a side note, I initially mis-spelled 'counseling,' and spell check recommended 'cunnilingus.' Razz

I'm with you on this one. I mean what if this was even the first time he'd done it? Like a lapse of judgement, self-control fuelled partially by curiosity and he knew it was bad and probably wouldn't do it again? His entire life is ruined now.

Imo they should have just put him on the naughty (by which I mean watch) list and been harsher had anything happened again.
