Then you fuck up your life and end like Michael, rich but not useful and hated.Vigil wrote:You become famous, but they fuck up your mind beyond imagination.

Re: Michael Jackson is dead!
Death, he wasn't hated...
Hardly, I like to use the term, 'misunderstood'. He was a great man, the king of pop. A musical genius, a vincent van goh (sp?) in music, truly great. Now he is gone, shame...

Re: Michael Jackson is dead!
Well put yourself in his shoes (as though he were still alive of course). You're entire childhood you are attacked by media at all hours of the day as a rising star. If you make even ONE little mistake the whole world is going to know about it and there goes your credability. Just think about how that would feel. Not to mention the only way his dad would really "assist him" was by taking his money and having them live off of it. He grew up with no one other than his brothers.
Also none of the alligations against him were proven true in court, except that he was a cronic drug addict.
(not arguing with anyone just stating this)

Re: Michael Jackson is dead!
I think his early death is probably the best thing that could have happened to his career. Now that he is gone, people can really reflect on what he did, and see past his mistakes, and oddities.
He was a superstar when the Record industry was at its finest. His vast popularity really never will be equaled. His record sales will never be beat. He's an international icon that will never be forgotten.
I've developed a newfound respect for him now that he's dead. I think many can say the same.

Re: Michael Jackson is dead!
Elvis wasn't all that good either. He couldn't sing nearly as well as Frank Sinatra, couldn't act as well as Sinatra, and couldn't play the guitar as well as Eric Clapton.Jamiesway wrote:the only man greater than elvis
Upon further research, I must admit that Micheal Jackson wasn't a pedophile, so much as he was an adult mentally regressed to a mental 10-year old. I'll admit that, while he wasn't a danger to his kids, he was definitely NOT a good role model, and would have screwed his kids up. He was irresponsible, addicted to prescription drugs, and would not have been able to show his kids how to act like responsible adults.
Because of the money he was making (75 million per year) he could afford to spend six million in one store, spend most of the time higher than Buzz Aldrin, spend all his time trying to be a kid. What would his children have learned from him?
IDK, I prefer "Dark Side of the Moon," "The Wall," "Division Bell", and "Sailing to Philadelphia" to "Thriller." I like that music more, and I like to listen to music where I can respect the artist behind the music.
BTW: I get the feeling sometimes that Recon would get along rather well with Roger Waters.

Re: Michael Jackson is dead!
While I would say that Michael Jackson was a talented musician, and a pretty decent singer, I think it's much less about music quality, and more about pure influence and international popularity that he had.
The 80's were a time when pop-culture had enormous influence. Today, something like Michael Jackson just doesn't happen. A figure doesn't appear on stage and cause people OF ALL AGES AND NATIONALITIES to break down and go crazy. We don't have that mentality about celebrities anymore. There are no more 'superstars.'
When you watch that video I posted, even before the screen goes up, even when all you see is his shadow, you know who that is. That's Michael fucking Jackson. He was an international icon with crazy influence.
I find myself fascinated by that culture. It just isn't like that anymore.

As far as I know, I've never heard a song by this 'Lady Gaga' you speak of. So no, I wouldn't say she's nearly as popular as Michael Jackson was.

Lady GaGa is popular, but how long will that last? Although, she is a TOTAL diva, so i'm guessing that she will be important for a while. Not to mention her fashion sense...

Maybe.... I'd never even heard of her before this thread, and I listen to the radio quite frequently.
Maybe all you crazy hipster music just hasn't reached the suburbs of Ohio?

Look bub, it's a pop song like it or not it's garnered alot of attention these past few months and the fact that you didn't know said artist makes MY head wanna asplode. This is exactly how you reacted to Aly And AJ.ReconToaster wrote:Carcarius wrote:Living under a rock, MUCH?
