I don't appear to be able to find an article, but hopefully some of you will have heard of this.

But a while ago there was a one day police strike. Government members said something like, 'we won't bow down to their demands. People will be able to last one day on their own, surely.'

Then BAM!! There was a record amount of crime and basically rioting. While I'm on your side, Krazy... humanity are assholes Razz

and I think it'll take longer than a year for order to establish itself again.

NASA released that report, right? That means that the Government knows about it. Which means that there are going to be a few wargames run to test readiness, if we haven't already prepared for such an event.

The whole grid won't fail at once. There will be warnings... we may have as little as three months to prepare. That's more than enough to keep communications going.

I live in eastern Washington. This is a farming community. If you can't keep a combine running for two years without replacing or fixing a major part, you really shouldn't be in the business of farming.

Why? Because he discovered a scientific principle that would help revolutionise the future of all physics and would have probably been discovered eventually? Why not blame Hubble, who first noticed the wavelength of light decreasing over long distances? Or the guy who actually pushes the button? That's exactly what i'm doing, charging batteries. Meaning i can work a lot of electronics (they'd have to be totally refitted.
