Re: Winter Solstice 2012: End of the World?
I don't appear to be able to find an article, but hopefully some of you will have heard of this.
But a while ago there was a one day police strike. Government members said something like, 'we won't bow down to their demands. People will be able to last one day on their own, surely.'
Then BAM!! There was a record amount of crime and basically rioting. While I'm on your side, Krazy... humanity are assholes and I think it'll take longer than a year for order to establish itself again.

It's called a hand-crank generator. The Vietnamese made them from scrap.KristallNacht wrote:TNine wrote:On science: I can make a weak powered battery out of common household objects, and a stronger one with some Car Battery Acid. I'm sure some scientist somewhere could do a whole lot better.
which is good right? because batteries don't need to be charged or anything....
OMFG! THEY"RE LOOTING IN HOUSTON! WE NEED TO INFORM THE PREZIDENT! SAVE US, BARACK!KristallNacht wrote:TNine wrote:With Crime: Your forgetting that we still have the National Guard, the Police, SWAT Teams, the FBI, and, if things get bad, the military.
how will they work when they can't coordinate and communicate?
OK, NOW do you see how silly that is? You DON'T NEED higher authority to put down civil unrest. The local National Guard can easily maintain order for the few months it takes to set up an alternate communications rout. If one wasn't set up already.
Yeah, 'cause people are REALLY going to need to travel so much so they can... what, go to Disneyland? Hawaii?KristallNacht wrote:TNine wrote:With communication: How hard would it be to refit a Jet to not use electronics? Sure, it would be more difficult, but you would have less air traffic, and the Pilots would be much better trained.
you are aware all aircraft nowadays are pretty much all electronic right? its called 'fly-by-wire'
We've got trains, geniuses. And they're pretty good too. If one can cross the US in two days, then there is no real communication problem.
Chances are, we'll have done a few preparations by then.KristallNacht wrote:TNine wrote:On Terrorism: If all power goes out, the Armed Forces will practically go into lock-down. They would be much more rigourous in terrorist areas that they are already positioned in, and it would be much harder for terrorists to even reach the US in the first place.
because lockdown works without power......
chances are before any armed force could coordinate itself, the damage would already be done.
NASA released that report, right? That means that the Government knows about it. Which means that there are going to be a few wargames run to test readiness, if we haven't already prepared for such an event.
The whole grid won't fail at once. There will be warnings... we may have as little as three months to prepare. That's more than enough to keep communications going.
That's not my point. Electrical engineers know how microchips are made. IT'S THEIR JOB!KristallNacht wrote:Rasq'uire'laskar wrote:
Oh, that IS pretty secret technology. Only every electrical engineer out there knows how to do it.
yes....because electrical engineers are taught how to make lots of things without the use of electricity right?
Manufacturing engineers know how things are manufactured.
Mechanical engineers know how things work.
And there is a lot of us.
And you 'keep seeming' to just ignore context and common sense.KristallNacht wrote:STFU, srsly. you keep seeming to counter one point in the newest post and ignoring the others already mentioned.
I live in eastern Washington. This is a farming community. If you can't keep a combine running for two years without replacing or fixing a major part, you really shouldn't be in the business of farming.KristallNacht wrote:and how the fuck do you know how to make a combine?
You won't need to build new combines anyways. Seriously, most of the electronics on those things is for the GPS and field phone.
So, no electricity AT ALL is going to work? Oh noes, that means our brains won't function.KristallNacht wrote:and computers won't be able to run in those cages sicne they still won't have any electricity. This isn't an EMP, this is a fucking geomagnetic apocalypse.
Well, my brain won't. Yours seems to have punched in it's ticket early.
Simply, we could use geothermal power to keep such an installation going in Yellowstone National Park. Power grids will fail and computers may fry, but the laws of physics decree that electricity CAN run through a copper wire.

Yes.. there's always the nuke problem...... i assume the government would be smart enough to make sure a solar flare wont set them off correct? and for every government with a nuclear loadout to cooperate, If anything This is only really dangerous threat from a solar flare.

Why? Because he discovered a scientific principle that would help revolutionise the future of all physics and would have probably been discovered eventually? Why not blame Hubble, who first noticed the wavelength of light decreasing over long distances? Or the guy who actually pushes the button? Besides, from a jewish viewpoint he was a self-proclaimed atheist anyway. On top of that he was an "absolute pacifist".

That's exactly what i'm doing, charging batteries. Meaning i can work a lot of electronics (they'd have to be totally refitted.KristallNacht wrote:TNine wrote:On science: I can make a weak powered battery out of common household objects, and a stronger one with some Car Battery Acid. They can still communicate through hand motions and such, and they don't need much communication when they got an M16 and heavy Body Armour.KristallNacht wrote:TNine wrote:With Crime: Your forgetting that we still have the National Guard, the Police, SWAT Teams, the FBI, and, if things get bad, the military.
how will they work when they can't coordinate and communicate?
I wasn't aware Amelia Lockhart "flew-by-wire" over the Atlantic. There are planes out there that don't overuse electricity.KristallNacht wrote:TNine wrote:With communication: How hard would it be to refit a Jet to not use electronics? And how exactly would the terrorists attack us? They have even less resources, and with a lockdown, they wouldn't even be able to go back to their favorite past-times of shooting Marines.KristallNacht wrote:TNine wrote:On Terrorism: If all power goes out, the Armed Forces will practically go into lock-down. Seriously, a power surge CANNOT set off a nuke, unless it's a very poorly built Little-Boy type. All of the modern ones (E.G., anything built after 1952) require precise timing to set off. All an EMP can do is deactivate the nuke.
And as I pointed out earlier, Albert Einstein wasn't a Zionist.

Um... Einstein was an atheist, whoever edited Wikipedia was completely wrong.
I would change it back but the extreamly biased person who originally decided to provide false information wouldnt take to kindly to it and change it back so i wont bother.

Mkay, I'll admit that I was wrong this time around. Einstein was a supporter of Zionism. However, given his agnosticism, it was more out of a desire to let so many displaced people settle in their ancestral homelands.
But what really riled me us was you derisively referring to the greatest scientist of the modern age as a 'Zionist', as if such a derogatory (to you) moniker could ever describe a man who so revolutionized our age. Please, point out a single Muslim or Arab who's done a quarter of what Einstein has, and I'll admit I was wrong.

Um...
Algebra. Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī and can be traced even farther to Babylonians.
Think about everything that algebra has done for us. Even E=mc2 would have not been possible without algebra.
And I guess you could one day add:
Invented the nuke that killed everyone and caused a nuclear apocalypse.

Einstein didn't invent the nuke alone, there was hundreds of scientists working on the concept Einstein was only involved in it because of his research into radiation and the atom.
After the whole dropped the bomb on Hiroshima thing most of the scientists swore that that type of weaponry should never be used again EVER.
