I don't appear to be able to find an article, but hopefully some of you will have heard of this.

But a while ago there was a one day police strike. Government members said something like, 'we won't bow down to their demands. People will be able to last one day on their own, surely.'

Then BAM!! There was a record amount of crime and basically rioting. While I'm on your side, Krazy... humanity are assholes Razz and I think it'll take longer than a year for order to establish itself again.

It's called a hand-crank generator. The Vietnamese made them from scrap.

OMFG! THEY"RE LOOTING IN HOUSTON! WE NEED TO INFORM THE PREZIDENT! SAVE US, BARACK!

OK, NOW do you see how silly that is? You DON'T NEED higher authority to put down civil unrest. The local National Guard can easily maintain order for the few months it takes to set up an alternate communications rout. If one wasn't set up already.

Yeah, 'cause people are REALLY going to need to travel so much so they can... what, go to Disneyland? Hawaii?
We've got trains, geniuses. And they're pretty good too. If one can cross the US in two days, then there is no real communication problem.

chances are before any armed force could coordinate itself, the damage would already be done.
Chances are, we'll have done a few preparations by then.
NASA released that report, right? That means that the Government knows about it. Which means that there are going to be a few wargames run to test readiness, if we haven't already prepared for such an event.

The whole grid won't fail at once. There will be warnings... we may have as little as three months to prepare. That's more than enough to keep communications going.

Oh, that IS pretty secret technology. Only every electrical engineer out there knows how to do it.

yes....because electrical engineers are taught how to make lots of things without the use of electricity right?
That's not my point. Electrical engineers know how microchips are made. IT'S THEIR JOB!
Manufacturing engineers know how things are manufactured.
Mechanical engineers know how things work.
And there is a lot of us.

KristallNacht wrote:STFU, srsly. you keep seeming to counter one point in the newest post and ignoring the others already mentioned.
And you 'keep seeming' to just ignore context and common sense.

KristallNacht wrote:and how the fuck do you know how to make a combine?
I live in eastern Washington. This is a farming community. If you can't keep a combine running for two years without replacing or fixing a major part, you really shouldn't be in the business of farming.

You won't need to build new combines anyways. Seriously, most of the electronics on those things is for the GPS and field phone.

KristallNacht wrote:and computers won't be able to run in those cages sicne they still won't have any electricity. This isn't an EMP, this is a fucking geomagnetic apocalypse.
So, no electricity AT ALL is going to work? Oh noes, that means our brains won't function.
Well, my brain won't. Yours seems to have punched in it's ticket early.

Simply, we could use geothermal power to keep such an installation going in Yellowstone National Park. Power grids will fail and computers may fry, but the laws of physics decree that electricity CAN run through a copper wire.

Why? Because he discovered a scientific principle that would help revolutionise the future of all physics and would have probably been discovered eventually? Why not blame Hubble, who first noticed the wavelength of light decreasing over long distances? Or the guy who actually pushes the button? Besides, from a jewish viewpoint he was a self-proclaimed atheist anyway. On top of that he was an "absolute pacifist".

They can still communicate through hand motions and such, and they don't need much communication when they got an M16 and heavy Body Armour.

Seriously, a power surge CANNOT set off a nuke, unless it's a very poorly built Little-Boy type. All of the modern ones (E.G., anything built after 1952) require precise timing to set off. All an EMP can do is deactivate the nuke.

And as I pointed out earlier, Albert Einstein wasn't a Zionist.

Mkay, I'll admit that I was wrong this time around. Einstein was a supporter of Zionism. However, given his agnosticism, it was more out of a desire to let so many displaced people settle in their ancestral homelands.

But what really riled me us was you derisively referring to the greatest scientist of the modern age as a 'Zionist', as if such a derogatory (to you) moniker could ever describe a man who so revolutionized our age. Please, point out a single Muslim or Arab who's done a quarter of what Einstein has, and I'll admit I was wrong.
Wikipedia wrote:Einstein's many contributions to physics include:

* The special theory of relativity, which reconciled mechanics with electromagnetism
* The general theory of relativity, a new theory of gravitation obeying the equivalence principle.
* Founding of relativistic cosmology with a cosmological constant
* The first post-Newtonian expansion, explaining the perihelion advance of planet Mercury
* Prediction of the deflection of light by gravity and gravitational lensing
* An explanation for capillary action
* The first fluctuation dissipation theorem which explained the Brownian movement of molecules
* The photon theory and wave-particle duality derived from the thermodynamic properties of light
* The quantum theory of atomic motion in solids
* Zero-point energy
* The semiclassical version of the Schrodinger equation
* Relations for atomic transition probabilities which predicted stimulated emission
* The quantum theory of a monatomic gas which predicted Bose-Einstein condensation
* The EPR paradox
* A program for a unified field theory
* The geometrization of fundamental physics.

Einstein published more than 300 scientific works and more than 150 non-scientific works.[2][3] In 1999 Time magazine named him the "Person of the Century", and in the words of a biographer, "to the scientifically literate and the public at large, Einstein is synonymous with genius."[4]:159

Um...

Algebra. Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī and can be traced even farther to Babylonians.

Think about everything that algebra has done for us. Even E=mc2 would have not been possible without algebra.

And I guess you could one day add:

Invented the nuke that killed everyone and caused a nuclear apocalypse.

Einstein didn't invent the nuke alone, there was hundreds of scientists working on the concept Einstein was only involved in it because of his research into radiation and the atom.

After the whole dropped the bomb on Hiroshima thing most of the scientists swore that that type of weaponry should never be used again EVER.

Lord Rutherford was also one of the most major contributors to discovering Nuclear weapon, and power, and it is ironic that he is a New Zealander, as our stance on the Nuclear anything debate is, against it, which makes us kind of hypocritical.
