Yes, a large lump of coal infused with mercury and large amounts of unstable iridium.

Personally, I don't care about stuff like weapons and vehicles as lons as they feel like they belong in the universe.
Having the BR in HW would not have been a problem for me, same goes for the Spectre and stuff like that. Reason being that one can asume with some certainty that, bungie just hadn't thought up these weapons/vehicles by the first game (or that they couldn't implement them technically).

Now, the Spartan Laser was a bit too far imo, especially using it for ALL the spartans when upgraded.
In "real life" you'd never see a military elite squad running around with only heavy weapons, instead you have a specialised soldier for each role.

The Cyclopse and Vulture break the "halo feel" imo, but that's a personal thing.

I don't really know what my point is here, just felt like ranting a bit. I guess you could say that "breaking" canon is acceptable ONLY IF you keep it within REASONABLE boundaries. The BR inclusion would have been reasonable if you just asume bungie hadn't thought up the weapon for Halo 1 (which obviously was also the case with this and alot of other new additions, for me one must not find a perfect explanation for the introduction of each new weapon/vehicle due to this asumption).

Ah yes, go caps lock for emphasis.

Anyways, time for some rave moves Basketball Basketball Basketball

Halo CE was using weapons the Autumn had, and it was going for a boarding action, why would it need a weapon like the BR?

An machine gun only effective at very short range VS a rifle effective at medium to long range. And we all know how wide cov architecture can be (see the books for good examples, like that giant space station which had banshees flying in it, or high charity).

So the Autumn having the BR, if it existed/bungie thought of it, would completely make sense for a boarding action.

Correction, an SMG is only effective at very short range, an automatic rifle(the assault rifle) is effective at short to medium ranges.

If Banshees could fly in it, they would use the sniper rifle...

And, unlike in the games, the rifle has more controllable, semi-automatic capabilities as well.
