Screw that. Nobody would want to play that!Mereel wrote:Vigil wrote:KrAzY wrote:i'm suck of game series just racking up sequal numbers
why are publishers so afraid of NEW ideas?
Because it's a risk and people won't buy it.
They think people qould prefer Call of Duty 57: How many times can we spend winning world war two single handedly.
we havent even played threw the START so why not play as the Brits or French getting our asses handed to us for once
Now, playing as a Wehrmarcht Soldat handing the French's/Polish's/Russians/English's heinies to them on a silver platter...
Jawohl, das ist gut!

Yeah... throwing those mortars around just wasn't enough, was it?
Darn, I hated those levels. You kept getting killed by stupid stuff, and those guys don't yell BANZAI soon enough. I found myself sticking with the Flamethrower and spraying anything that moved, which was hardly a challenge.

Who the hell cares about a challenge!
I got to kill Japs!
It was one of the happiest times of my life!
Oh, and the Russian Campaign was okay too.

Yeah... right. The only thing good about it was the weapons.
"Dmitry! Fire the Panzerschrek!"
"I'm doing fine with the MG-42!"
"Dmitry! Fire the Panzerschrek!"
"It's all the way across the map!"
"Dmitry! Fire the Panzerschrek!"
"You're right next to it!"

I don't like World At War. The M1 Grand is possible to reload mid clip... that's just wrong.

Re: Activision's failure
it IS possible to reload an M1 garand mid clip in real life...
one of the things they would do is fire all but 1 bullet... reload... and then throw the clip with 1 bullet at the ground so it would make the loud CLANG! that would have occourred when the gun ran out of ammo. the enemy would hear the CLANG! and pop up to shoot the soldier that they thought was in the middle of reloading, and get shot.

Re: Activision's failure
I thought that was what they did with empty clips but oh well. But still, WHY cant I have a clip for my springfield when every springfield in use had a clip at the time? Even dispite the drawbacks, World at War at least let you fight in the pacific theatre. I think they need more games for that area instead of reusing the western front. Over and Over again.

It's Garand first of all.
And the only problem I had with it was that, as usual, it's underpowered.
In reality, the M1 Garand has the same, if not better, firepower and penetration as a Springfield or Mauser(Kar).
A round from an M1 can go through three people(or four japs) in one shot.

It was...
I thought that you had to wait until all of the rounds were shot before you could reload...

Re: Activision's failure
no...
you waste ammo if you reload early... but what I said is how they did it... if you fired every shot in the clip the gun would eject the clip with the loud CLANG! noise... this caused a lot of problems erlier in the war until soldiers started counting their shots so they could catch the enemy off guard.
you would not throw the empty clip at the ground if it had already been ejected from the gun due to running out of ammo... as your chance to suprise the enemy is already gone at this point.
were it not the fact that historians make absolutely no money I would probably be a history major for WWII... ive been studying it since I was 5 after my grandpa told me stories about it

Re: Activision's failure
What irked me was the German weapons. I think the FG-42's firing rate was off, but I KNOW that the MG-42 was firing WAY too slow. You should have been able to park it on a fence, aim in the general direction of an enemy, pull the trigger, and think happy thoughts. It shouldn't have sounded like a t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t, but a ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. A firing rate of 1500 rounds per minute means that you hear a sound like ripping cloth, not a machine gun.PiEman wrote:

American History is my favorite subject, and I too would be a historian if I could make money on it.KrAzY wrote:

I guess I'll just be limited to the guy who feverishly studies the 30s-50s and collects WWII weapons.

Kids, kids, you're both right.
They have no souls, and they're also generally smaller and lighter than Europeans.

Re: Activision's failure
Historians have an average starting salary of around 35,000, and ussually settle at at least 45K. I'f you're an experienced professor, you can actually get quite a good sum.
I intend to be a journalist of sorts. I'd get paid, at most, around 40-45 thousand, living in San Francisco, so quit your whining and do what interests you.
