Recruitment
After speaking with phoenix, who seems very interested in building up the Crimson Flame community, I've come to think it time to do some recruitment work. We need to build our user-base.
I'd like to collect suggestions as to how we could do this. What we want to try to avoid is a sudden rush of new guys. It would be wise to try and create a steady flow, that can be measured and contained. We don't want what happened to HWF to happen here. When I new member shows up, we should have enough tie to meet and get to know them before another shows up.
We could always go with the proven strategy of posting our URL all over HWF, but I don't think that is what we want. I feel that we have expanded out discussions far beyond halo (there's about one post in the halo-verse section a month,) so I'd like to try and seek out people with a wider range of interests.
It could be wise to try and seek new members only through personal recruitment. Rather than just post the URL all over the place, we could operate through PMs, confronting only members elsewhere who seem to have an intelligent mind, and healthy vocabulary.
How else can we go about this, and what precautions should we take?

Re: Recruitment
WEEELLLLL...... i say we spread from the whole XBOX base all together. invite in from every where. just not people who do halo. there's COD, GRAW, GOW, and plenty more games out there. of course if we center around on game all we will get is those people and verry few of number at a time but for a steady flow rate we should expand from the book.

Re: Recruitment
I agree. Still, I think we should continue to at least recruit mainly gamers of sorts. We are all part of the sub culture of games and, whether or not we discuss them exclusively, they are important to us. If we could develop a large group of intelligent, thoughtful gamers, we would have a pretty good community.

Re: Recruitment

Playstation and PC sounds better to me. Wii gamers are not gamers.

Cut the ignorance pie. The fact that your senile, propaganda ridden grandfather was "almost killed" by the Japanese in a kill or be killed situation does not justify hatred for an entire ethnicity.
The Japanese who were recruited in WWII were born into the fascist, totalitarian government that they ended up being FORCED to fight and kill themselves for. Your grandpa was almost killed... over a million young Japanese men were forced to fly themselves into ships so that they could avoid being completely cast out by society.
Stop acting like your grandpa was somehow capable of producing judgment of an entire ethnic population.
Playstation is a great system, and PC is a given

Firstly, get your fucking facts straight.
My grandpa is 62 years old, and was in the navy during Veitnam.
My Great Grandpa was in WWII.
I never knew him.
I don't even think my dad knew him. He died in the 60's/70's.
I also hated the Japanese for economic reasons before I learned about the thing with my Great Grandpa, all that did was add to the pile.
So you can go to hell, and since you don't believe in hell anyway, you can go get your legs broken, fall in a pit, have your arms broken, and have a continuous supply of nutriton to keep you barely alive for 40 years.
I hate when I get pissed like this, because I always say shit like this!

Re: Recruitment
anyone who has people they know who they think would fit in here, feel free to invite them.
Re: Recruitment
Good to take precaution... but I doubt it would happen. Our mods are much more... determined.ReconToaster wrote:We don't want what happened to HWF to happen here.
True... But where else could we go? Most of us originally met at HWF. RG and DG are less Halo-oriented, but they are still offsprings of HWF.ReconToaster wrote:I feel that we have expanded out discussions far beyond halo (there's about one post in the halo-verse section a month,) so I'd like to try and seek out people with a wider range of interests.
Agreed. PMing is the safest way to keep the site away from the flood. Though I still doubt a majority of n00bs from HWF would come here being as most of them log on rarely enough as it is. I don't think many of them would be devoted enough to check up on more than one forum at a time.ReconToaster wrote:It could be wise to try and seek new members only through personal recruitment. Re: Recruitment
I definitely agree that we should grow this community, I just don't want it to get really big to the point where we don't know most of the posters.
I'd also like to point out that we should remain open to a wide range of people, including noobs. HWF worked great in the good days because we got many new members regularly and we could control the flow by intelligent argument or flame. The ones that would not fit into such a society would leave and the ones that stayed would mature. This way, we get a wide range of new personalities and interests, while not getting overrun.
Obviously we will never get as much publicity as HWF did, so the stream of new members will be much slower and thus more controllable, and on top of that we now have moderation powers to enforce it in ways we couldn't do in HWF.
So yeah, just invite people you know.

So, you blame an entire ethnic population for the business ethics of their "county of origin's" government? That makes SOOOOO much more sense

And yes, I do.
Because the Japs whole-heartedly support infiltrating and eliminating all of our domestic companies.

Re: Recruitment
it's us (the people for buying from the enemy) and us (the people for electing dumb shits that won't make a fair trade policy with them) and us (the government that won't make a fair trade policy with them) who is at fault (and them to for waging economic war in the first place, but that's good for their country so you can't really blame them, just fight 'em instead)
but
since I wanna be on topic
the humvee is my favorite but my other favorite is corvette (can't remember which model, but it's the one in NFS:carbon)
because it's cool looking
and it's not incredibly expensive
and it's cool looking
and it performs better than normal cars do
