Diplomacy!
Diplomacy TCF Style
Ive recently played a few rounds of this board game with some friends and i figured this would be something cool to play besides mafia.
Diplomacy is a game about conquering europe it has very simple rules so anyone can play and has more of a focus on negotiations and alliances with
other players. Here the wikipedia Article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomacy_(game)
So this post is just to test interest in my hosting one.
The basic rules are as follows
All actions resolve simultaneously like Mafia and are sent to the moderator.
Players spend the majority of their turns talking to eachother and planning alliances, this must all be done in the open.
Each Region in europe has supply centers that must be taken to win the game such as London, Moscow, ect.
Then Actions are sent.
Combat works by numbers basically, each unit not moving into a space where theres an enemy army gives a support point to the attacking army
Whoever has more support points wins the battle and the army Retreats, if the Army has no place to retreat to it is destroyed.
After Combat resolves players can rebuild armies at their capitols until they have the same number of armies as they do supply centers.
When i played Navies counted as armies as well in terms of the supply cap but they also gave support as armies do.
Theres Seven Players Possible in the game, so if your willing to give it a shot sign up here.
Great Britain: Starts with two navies to place and 1 army
France: Starts with two armies, one navy
Germany: Starts with Two armies, one navy
Italy: Starts with Two armies one Navy
Austria-Hungry: two Armies one Navy
Turkey: Two armies one navy
Russia: Two armies two navies
This is the Starting Political Map
The Colored in Regions of Key show your Home territory, The hatched(Or Black) regions cannot be moved into, captured or used in any way.
Players:
1. Rot
2. Tyler
3. Krazy
4. Rasq
5. Nocbl2

Re: Diplomacy!
I'll play, but I think I should iron out some of the rules you seem uncertain on.
Armies that do not move do not inherently grant support to any nearby attacking army. They have to be ordered to support an attack from a specific location into a specific location, and they must be adjacent to the location being attacked. In this way, an army can only ever support one attack a turn.
Also, Navies are the same thing as Armies, except that they traverse water and coastal rather than land and coastal. There's also a rule that allows a line of navies to move an Army across the water.

Ahh Fair enough as i've said i played at a friends house a few rounds and they had different rules, I'll be sure to use the proper game rules for if we get enough people.

My question still stands. What happened to the current version of IN?

Re: Diplomacy!
Not a clue i'd ask Seath Tyler or Rot as they are moderating it, I think its same problem I had, an Explosive Mixture of School and Life that made Moderating a bit difficult.

Re: Diplomacy!
Seath and Tyler are very busy, and I only have the manual they wrote, which is only 1/4 complete. Until the manual is done, I cannot effectively moderate the game independently.
Re: Diplomacy!
Alright.
That's really all I wanted to know: If it had been dropped, or if it's to be continued.
I'm in.

Re: Diplomacy!
No promises, but I try to work with Seath when I have free time to get this manual written.
Re: Diplomacy!
Yeah, Seath and my (Rot's?) game will continue when we get the time to build the rules enough to function. Really, it depends on Seath, as anything that works in the game has been his doing .

Re: Diplomacy!
As far as I'm concerned, you're still flavormaster, Tyler. I'm just here to help Seath iron out the rules faster and to then enforce them. ;)
Re: Diplomacy!
OT: I'm in on this. I just need to read all the rules. TBH drag, you should just let IN be player-moderated. I think we all trust each other enough not to be assholes.

Re: Diplomacy!
And how exactly does intelligence gathering work in a player-moderated IN?
"Hey lax, I'm infiltrating you with spies. What do I learn?"

Re: Diplomacy!
Make up anything you want and call it true thats how lol
" You find genetic labs filled with mutant spider monkey squid that grab your spies as they pass the cages and vaporize thier bone marrow"
Being a good example
But yea Player moderated is a bad idea in a game where people are actually competing against each other If it was solely a roleplay game that'd be different

I guess. Still, though, if you don't have time for that, then how will you have time for this?

Re: Diplomacy!
he was being overloaded with that, he is hopeing he wont be overloaded with this. he is letting IN die (already has) because any work done "isnt fast enough" thus in his eyes its a lost cause, not enough time was probably partially true but also it was a waste of time....
just my guess tho
